FIA WEC S8 - 4 Hours of Silverstone

The eighth season of the FIA World Endurance Championships has kicked off in Silverstone, Great Britain, for the 4 hours of Silverstone event, and while Great Britain is easily overshadowed by the Brexit gridlock even though it's just a month away from now, that won't stop the WEC from delivering the opener the motoring world deserved.

This season marks the last of the LMP1 machines, with Toyota trying to defend its legacy following their two-time Le Mans win last June, and before the FIA WEC heads to the Hypercar era next season, things can really heat up at the beginning of the 8th season of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

For four hours, the season opener is packed with all of the action and all of the drama as you would expect in most FIA WEC races and Silverstone is no exception. After four hours of intense endurance racing action, here are the winners of the season opener;

LMP1: #7 Toyota Gazoo Racing (Kobayashi/Conway/Lopez)
LMGTE PRO: #91 Porsche GT Team (Bruni/Lietz)
LMP2: #42 Cool Racing (Lapierre/Borga)
LMGTE AM: #83 AF CORSE (Nielse/Perrodo/Collard)

Next event is the 6 Hours of Fuji at Fuji Speedway on the 4th of October.
