- Due to inclement weather, the public viewing of the remains of the late Gina Lopez was moved to Studio 10 of ABS-CBN instead of the La Mesa Eco Park and the date has moved to August 22-23.

Maguindanao Rep. Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu has issued a strong appeal to President Rodrigo Duterte to declare a temporary ceasefire in the military operations in his province that has caused the displacement of thousands of his constituents.

- A Malacanang official says that the Duterte administration is pushing for the passage of two bills defining the Philippines' maritime zones, as well as the establishment of archipelago sea lanes.

- South Korea will double the radiation testing of some Japanese food exports due to potential contamination from the tsunami-damaged Fukushima nuclear plant. South Korea has stepped up demands this month for a Japanese response to concerns food produced in the Fukushima area and nearby sea could be contaminated by radiation from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant that was severely damaged by the March 11, 2011 tsunami.

- Indian security forces killed a suspected militant in a gunbattle in Kashmir, the first clash since India's revocation of status.

- Audi unveiled the new RS6 Avant with its 4.0L V8 biturbo engine producing 600PS of power and a belt-starter generator, mated to a 8-speed AT.
