2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship - Michelin GT Challenge at VIR

With summer coming to a near end, the IMSA 50th anniversary celebration continues at VIRginia International Raceway for the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR as theworld's best drivers are enjoying the last days of summer clashing their way towards victory lane, heating this race weekend towards its boiling point as summer ends with a roar.

The GTLM and the GTD class are the only classes compete at the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR and in this race, after over two hours and 40 minutes of action, Porsche pulled their first 1-2 finish after five years with the #911 Porsche 911 RSR won the race and the #912 911 RSR placed second. In the GTD class, meanwhile, Mercedes-AMG scored their first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship win of the season with the #33 Riley Motorsports - Team AMG GT3 of Jeroeh Bleekemolen and Ben Keating drove their way towards victory lane.

There are only two races left in this season and the next stop for the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on the 13th to the 15th of September, 2019.
