F1 2019: British GP

The United Kingdom is on the verge of political meltdown due to the Brexit fiasco but that doesn't stop the Formula 1 folks from continuing the action to the birthplace of the motorsport; Silverstone. Of course, while this is basically the last British Grand Prix before Brexit, this venue will keep hosting until 2024. This year's British GP is race number 1007 and because it had the numbers "007" on it, they even brought James Bond as a special guest to this race.

Anyway, enough James Bond stuff, the British Grand Prix is all shaken and stirred with all of the action, all of the drama, and all of the thrills as expected in this "greatest sporting weekend of the year", headlined by the Wimbledon finals, Cricket World Cup finals, this, the Formula E Season 5 finale, and many others.

Although, Lewis Hamilton's fifth pole position target at the British GP was foiled by Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas by an inch of a second during the qualifiers, Hamilton got his revenge by fighting back against Bottas and win the British Grand Prix, after a climactic close-quarter dogfight for the lead. Behind the epic dogfight comes a messy one as Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull's Max Verstappen got involved in a crash which led the German dropped to 16th at the end while the latter survived to fifth, leaving the unsung hero Charles Leclerc placed third.

With Hamilton won in what was known to be the last British Grand Prix before Brexit, his lead extends by 39 points ahead of Bottas.

Next race will be at the Hockenheimring for the German Grand Prix on the 28th of July.
