- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte reminds other countries that his country is not a place where they could just send their garbage. In a speech in Davao City, Duterte reiterated that he was not joking when he threatened to declare war if Canada will not take back their trash. The President also said that the decision to ship back garbage to their country of origin all boils down to respect.

- The number of election-related violent incidents recorded in the May 13 midterm polls went down by 55 percent compared to the 2016 presidential elections, according to the Philippine National Police.

- Another public school teacher has taken to social media, and complained that teachers at the Felipe Calderon Integrated High School in Tondo, Manila have had to use the toilet in the school as their faculty room. Earlier this week, a Bacoor City public school teacher went viral after she revealed that she and her co-mentors were forced to use the toilet as faculty room because of the absence of a viable alternative. This has since been denied by the school principal.

- British Prime Minister Theresa May steps down as leader of her Conservative Party, formally triggering the race for a successor who will try where she failed to deliver Brexit. May will remain prime minister until a new leader is chosen, likely in late July, but has relinquished control over the direction of Britain’s tortuous departure from the European Union.

- Former US Vice President and Democratic Presidential frontrunner Joe Biden now denounces the Hyde Amendment, dropping his long-held support for the measure that blocks federal funds from being used for most abortions amid criticism from his 2020 Democrat rivals.

- Mexico scrambled to slow the flow of Central American migrants to the United States as talks continued in Washington to head off President Donald Trump's threat of tariffs on Mexican goods.

- Democrats urged President Donald Trump to drop plans to give a July 4 speech on the National Mall, saying it would look like a campaign rally on a holiday that is traditionally apolitical.

- Thousands took part in Jerusalem’s Gay Pride parade, waving rainbow flags and calling for tolerance in the Holy City under tight security following a 2015 knife attack by a Jewish extremist that killed a teenager.

- Olympian weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz met with Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William Ramirez this afternoon and discussed issues that may have prompted her to post her plea for help on social media the other day.
