- Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo thanked Vietnamese Ambassador Ly Quoc Tuan for the rescue of the 22 Filipino fishermen by a Vietnamese fishing vessel at Recto Bank in the West Philippine Sea.
- A House leader is urging the incoming 18th Congress to give due attention to a measure that would promote aeroponics technology in agricultural production to increase the income of the country’s poor farmers.
- The partylist Coalition Foundation Inc. has blocked a move to force a term-sharing option for the speakership which the second biggest bloc in the House of Representatives described as “inimical to the interest of its members.”

- British leadership hopeful Boris Johnson pledged to introduce a new points-based system to control migration after Brexit, addressing a key issue from the EU referendum but not explicitly promising to cut numbers.
