- According to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is looking for a doctor to head PhilHealth and wants his officials to make use of state television network for public information.

- Senator Antonio Trillanes IV maintained that Peter Joemel "Bikoy" Advincula acted on his own and was not hired by the opposition to derail the Duterte administration. In a press briefing in Senate, Trillanes presented proof debunking Advincula’s claims that administration critics were behind the “Ang Totoong Narco List” videos that tagged the Chief Executive’s family and allies in illegal drugs as part of a supposed plot to unseat him.

- Congress ratified bicam report on bill establishing the Philippine Space Agency that would develop and promote the country's national space program.

- The BBC announced that free TV licences for over 3.7 million pensioners in the United Kingdom are being scrapped. Under the new rules, only low-income households where one person receives the pension credit benefit will still be eligible for a free licence.

- A Vietnamese-American man charged with “attempting to overthrow the state” will go on trial in Ho Chi Minh City on June 24, his family said and could face the death penalty if found guilty. Michael Nguyen has been held for nearly a year in the one-party communist state, which has tightened its grip on power since a new administration came to office in 2016 and took a harder line on dissent of any kind.

- Hungarian police began lifting a sightseeing vessel that sank in the river Danube in Budapest last month in an accident that has claimed 20 lives with eight people still missing. The Mermaid tourist boat was carrying mostly South Korean holidaymakers when it capsized and sank seconds after colliding with a bigger river cruise boat on a busy stretch of the river on May 29. Only seven out of the 35 people have survived the accident.

- Images of tens of thousands of travelers crossing the United States’ border have been stolen from an immigration subcontractor in a data breach, according to reports.

- The production version of the Mercedes-Benz GLB has been unveiled.

- The Ultima RS has been unveiled and it's a track car that is fully road legal and capable of almost 400kph of top speed with a 0-96kph time of 2.3 seconds when armed with a 1,200hp V8 engine in the middle.

- A remastered Final Fantasy VIII video game is announced at the E3 2019 and it's coming this year.

- Former NGT48 member Rena Hasegawa will continue entertaining as a seiyuu.

- In Game 5 of the NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors closely defeated the Toronto Raptors at the score of 106-105.

- Veteran actor Eddie Garcia is still in very critical condition following his accident during shooting for a TV series last weekend.
