Child's Play (2019 film) |
Starring Gabriel Bateman, Aubrey Plaza, and Mark Hamill lending his voice to the homicidal doll, Chucky, among many others, and directed by Lars Klevberg, the reborn Child Play follows the gruesome recipe as the 1988 original with some modern touches to it. It's about a family being terrorized by the doll that has an evil spirit inside. You get the point but there's no escaping from this terrifying toy so you'd better watch your backs.
Like the 1988 original, the new and modernized take on the cult classic horror film will never leave moviegoers alone until they are fully scared themselves, even the advertisers trying to scare them into watching this film just like every dark and gritty horror movie you know bombarding through social media. It just keeps chasing you just like Chucky himself and even if you survived watching the rest of the film, well, you get the point but still, all that horror, all that blood, and all that gore is what made Child's Play one of the most terrifying horror movies in history and this 21st century take really spells terror in the summer movie season with all of the gruesome moments everybody will talk about if they managed to survive through the end of the movie without a scratch.
Those who are interested to some dark and gritty horror movies that is as relevant as today's society should look no further than the reborn Child's Play but be warned because once you watched it, you will never have to look at the way toys are ever again.
My rating: 3.6 out of 5.
