The 103rd Indy 500 race turned to be the most dramatic Indy 500 to date because of all of the inevitable but thrilling moments everybody's talking about even after the race. Lap 6 saw rookie Colton Herta, the one who upset the COTA crowd with his first win a while back, is the first to retire due to mechanical failure. On Lap 37, James Davidson and Helio Castroneves got involved in a pit lane crash. Lap 69 sees newcomer Jordan King hit a pit crew member while Will Power runs over air hose during pit stop. In Lap 73, the rookie who kicked Fernando Alonso out in the qualifiers, Kyle Kaiser met an unfortunate end when he got crashed at Turn 4. And in Lap 178, Sebastian Bourdais, Felix Rosenqvist, Zach Veach, and Charlie Kimball got involved in a crash. Those series of unfortunate events really made this year's Indy 500 more noticeable the world over.

However, the biggest talk of the town is the rivalry between Simon Pagenaud and Alexander Rossi where the near-climax saw the French driver made a dramatic overtake against Rossi and sprint his way to his first Indy 500 victory. 2017 Indy 500 winner Takuma Sato finished third.
