- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte warned two political factions in the town of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental to stop election-related violence. Duterte, accompanied by former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, visited Moises Padilla on Wednesday, two days after the Commission on Elections placed the town under its control following the killing of a councilor and his uncle.

- Philippine, US, Indian, and Japanese war ships are conducting maritime exercises while passing through the South China Sea (locally known as the West Philippine Sea), an area which is almost entirely claimed by China.

- Singapore’s parliament yesterday passed laws to combat “fake news” that will allow authorities to order the removal of online content despite fierce criticism from tech giants and rights groups.
