- Winning senators and partylists groups in the May 2019 midterm polls may have to wait a bit more before being proclaimed. In a press briefing, Commission on Elections spokesman James Jimenez announced that the expected proclamation of the winning senators on Tuesday will not push through.

- The Department of Justice is expected to conduct an inquiry into former National Youth Commission chair Ronald Cardema amid complaints about alleged wrongdoing, MalacaƱang announced.

- PH Vice President Leni Robredo has rejected the resignation of the two high-ranking officials of the opposition Liberal Party, who took full responsibility for the loss of the eight Otso Diretso bets in the May 13 elections. Vice presidential spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said Robredo did not accept the resignation of Senator Francis Pangilinan, LP president, and Quezon City 6th District Representative Kit Belmonte as party secretary-general.

- US officials have issued a 90-day reprieve on their ban on dealing with Chinese tech giant Huawei, saying breathing space was needed to avoid huge disruption.

- The man accused of shooting dead 51 Muslim worshippers in the Christchurch mosque attacks was formally charged with terrorism for the first time, according to NZ police.

- Former Catalan vice-president Oriol Junqueras will be temprarily released and sworn in as a Spanish lawmaker. The head of Catalan separatist party ERC is one of five Catalan leaders on trial for their roles in an October 2017 Catalonian secession bid who were elected deputies in Spain’s April 28 general election.

- A 16-year-old Guatemala migrant who died in U.S. custody had been held by immigration authorities for six days — twice as long as federal law generally permits — then transferred him to another holding facility even after he was diagnosed with the flu.

- Ford will slash 7,000 employees by the end of August as part of its restructuring plan, which has been underway since last year.

- F1 legend Niki Lauda passed away at the age of 70.
