- Various militant groups called on the Commission on Elections to suspend the proclamation of national candidates pending a thorough investigation on irregularities and allegations of voter fraud during the May 13 midterm elections.

- More than 1,100 new cases of human immunodeficiency virus were recorded in March alone, according to the Department of Health.

 - The Department of Labor and Employment considers withdrawing Philippine labor attachés in Canada over the trash issue between the two countries. This, after the Philippines recalled its ambassador and consuls in Canada in protest of the continued presence of illegally shipped garbage from the north American country.

- Pope Francis accepted the resignation of a Brazilian bishop reportedly suspected of extorting priests and covering up sexual abuse, the Vatican said in a statement.

- The Trump administration announced a deal to lift US tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada and Mexico that had created friction between the neighbors and blocked a new North American free trade agreement.

- An Ohio State University team doctor sexually abused at least 177 male students over nearly two decades and was never disciplined at the US school despite reports of his actions, according to a found investigaiton.
