- The Philippine Army said the abduction of a barangay chairman, two civilians, and a member of the CAFGU Active Auxillary in Oriental Mindoro last week by New People’s Army terrorists reflected their desperate attempts to survive by using helpless civilians as human shields.

- Reelectionist senator JV Ejercito denied rumors that his father, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. However, Ejercito admitted that the former president “has (already) slowed down a bit”.

- The top Swedish diplomat in Manila on Monday said there was a need for the Philippines to “investigate properly” the reported death of thousands related to the war-on-drugs campaign under the Duterte administration, and bring those responsible to the bar of justice.

- The Department of Education (DepEd) led the signing of the memorandum of agreement for the conduct of the 2019 Palarong Pambansa to be hosted by Davao City at the end of this month.
