- The Philippine government filed a diplomatic protest over presence of Chinese vessels near Pag-asa Island, according to the Malacanang. Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said the military has monitored 275 Chinese vessels sailing near the island from January to March 2019, as he questioned the reason behind such deployment.

- The 12-day Balikatan 2109 begins with over 7,500 troops from the Philippines, the United States, and Australia took part on this annual military drills.

- The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board started accepting applications for special permit to augment buses transporting passengers traveling this Lenten Season. As of now, LTFRB has received 484 applications covering 1,133 bus units for special permit with petition as of March 25, according to latest records.

- British MP began finding new ways for a Brexit deal following last weekend's third defeat of Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal which was trimmed down to just the withdrawal agreement both the DUP and the Labour opposed, among many others.

- The name of the next imperial era in Japan has been revealed as "Reiwa" and this new era begins this 1st of May as Crown Prince Naruhito takes over the throne as the nation's new emperor. The Reiwa name derives from the oldest existing anthology of Japanese poetry, making a break from the tradition of drawing era names from Chinese classical texts.

- 20 people were killed in a Peru bus fire.

- Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika might resign this week according to reports.
