FIA World RX 2019: World RX of Abu Dhabi

The 2019 FIA World Rally Cross Championships kicked off at their brand new location, Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit, where the opener got off to a more controversial approach when this opener's winner got demoted and penalized whereas a young upstart was crowned the winner.


On the Finals part of the race, Niclas Gronholm, driving a GRX Taneco Hyundai and won the race, faced a three-second penalty following a collision with Kevin Hansen, therefore with Gronholm demoted to second place, the young Hansen was promoted to 1st place and named the first winner of the Abu Dhabi RX. Liam Doran, driving a Monster Energy RX Cartel Audi, nailed his first podium by finishing third place.

So there we are, a controversial season opener with a controversial result happening in the history of the FIA World RX and this season's just getting started so the next event will be the World RX of Catalunya - Barcelona, held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on the 27th of April.
