Ultraman R/B: Select! Kizuna no Crystal |
Ultraman R/B: Select! Kizuna no Crystal served as the final chapter of the Ultraman R/B saga which was set after the dramatic events of the TV series. The siblings, well for one, had their decisions about their futures made with Isami said that he decides to study overseas. Katsumi, meanwhile, remains unsure what will his future be. However, the peace and tranquility in Ayaka-shi has been shattered once again, this time by the wrath of the most powerful foe ever faced; a villainous Ultraman named Tregear wrecks havoc in the city and the Minato siblings are not only the ones who will be fighting against this new threat. They were joined by Riku Asakura, known as Ultraman Geed, and together, they will risk everything to end Tregear's reign of terror.
With Rosso, Blu, and Geed back in action, the new film features new Ultra Heroes such as the new favorite, Ultrawoman Grigio. Yes, little sister Asahi Minato gets her Ultra Heroine named after Mitsurugi's real name. Focused solely on support, Grigio uses her defensive powers to help her brothers. And lastly, there's Ultraman GRooB; the result of the Minato siblings' unity coming into this ultra-powerful Ultra Hero. Paired alongside Geed's Ultimate Final form and this results to an epic battle between good vs. evil. The perfect endgame.
Although there will be some surprises and easter eggs in store, this film doesn't feel like any of the New Generation era films where multiple heroes are banded against powerful new enemies because it lacks that special someone. You know who's that special someone? Anyway, while this is nothing ordinary compared to any other New Generation era films, this movie really is a proper sendoff to this era that started with Ginga and ended with R/B.
The Ultraman New Generation era comes to a complete finish and this film really is the icing of the cake that leaves a lasting impression to fans of all ages. It's hard to miss such a wonderful generation of Ultra Heroes but fans who witnessed the film from start to finish will have their thoughts saying that they loved this era since the beginning and with the Heisei era nearing its completion, this film really is the last sprint for the franchise as it ushers to the next bold era with new and exciting ways we can't wait. This film really is the swan song of the Ultraman New Generation era and it's time to give them the ultra thanks it needs.
My eating: 3.7 out of 5.
