- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte may veto the inclusion of P79 billion worth of projects in the proposed 2019 General Appropriations Act, but should spare the rest of the budget.
- The Department of Social Welfare and Development is working to facilitate the release of the second batch of cash assistance to the relatives of the 44 Special Action Force personnel who were killed-in-action during the Mamasapano clash in 2015.
- Pope Francis met with the leadership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the first-such meeting of its kind, on the eve of the dedication of the church’s huge new temple in Rome.
- US-backed fighters could soon resume offensive against the Islamic State.
- British Home Secretary Sajid Javid faced criticism after the death of a Shamima Begum’s baby in a Syrian camp. Begum, who had left London as a 15-year-old in 2015 to join the Islamic State group, had pleaded with British authorities before her baby was born to let her return to Britain to raise the child.
- TOEI's Kamen Rider Zi-O and Kishiryu Sentai Ryusolger tokusatsu shows will have films this Summer.
- Comedian Chokoleit passed away at the age of 46. Cause of death remains unknown but the comedian has experienced trouble breathing during his show at Abra last Saturday night.
