- The "tara" system in the Bureau of Customs will be gone soon, according to its top official. While Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero was citing the bureau’s progress in 2018 during a press briefing, he highlighted their progress in ridding the bureau of the lingering “tara” system.

- Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and former Health Secretary Janette Garin faced criminal complaint over the death of a doctor who got inoculated with the Dengvaxia anti-dengue vaccine.

- The chairman of the House Subcommittee on Marawi Rehabilitation called on the business and livelihood cluster of Task Force Bangon Marawi to “unify its efforts” in providing assistance to the victims of the Marawi siege.

- Taiwan's navy unveils its new long-range surveillance drone as the island’s outgunned armed forces push to counter China’s increasingly muscular rhetoric and military exercises. China still sees Taiwan as part of its territory to be reunified, despite the two sides being ruled separately since they split in 1949 after a civil war.

- Subaru halted car production at their Gunma plant due to a defective electric power steering component from its supplier, Hitachi Automotive Systems. The shutdown at Subaru’s sole Japanese plant is expected to last until Monday.

- Volvo recalls 219,000 units for fuel leak issue, according to reports.
