- Two New People's Army fighters were killed in an encounter with government troops in Bukidnon. A report reaching Camp Aguinaldo said troopers from the Army’s 8th Infantry Battalion and 43rd Division Reconnaissance Company overran an NPA camp in the mountainous boundary of Bukidnon and Agusan del Sur.
- The Philippine National Police has recorded a range of 50 percent to 80 percent drop in all the usual bad news that come with the New Year revelry for this year, particularly on the firecracker and stray-bullet injuries.
