For the first time since 2004, two red flags were waved at the 57th annual Rolex 24 at Daytona due to heavy rainfall drizzling through the Sunshine State with the second red flag signalling an abrupt end to the historic endurance race with only eleven minutes left.
So, with this year's Rolex 24 at Daytona came to an abrupt end due to heavy rainfall pouring down Daytona, the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V, driven by Formula 1 legend Fernando Alonso, Jordan Taylor, Renger van der Zande, and (for the first time) Kamui Kobayashi became the winner of this year's Daytona thriller with the #31 Whelen Cadillac (driven by Eric Curran, Felipe Nasr, and Pipo Derani) placed 2nd and third placer goes to the #7 Penske Acura DPi (driven by Helio Castroneves, Alexander Rossi, and Ricky Taylor).
In the soon-to-be-axed LMP2 class, the #18 Dragonspeed Oreca-Gibson (driven by Pastor Maldonado, Sebastian Saavedra, Roberto Gonzalez, and Ryan Cullen) was the winner. In the GTLM class, the #25 Team RLL BMW M8 GTE (driven by Augusto Fargus, Philipp Eng, Commor De Philippi, and Colton Herta) wins, while in the GTD class, the #11 GRT Grasser Lamborghini Huracan GT3 (driven by Rolf Ineichen, Christian Englehart, Mirko Bortolotti, and Rick Breukers) is named the class victor.

Although ended prematurely with only a few minutes to spare because of the extremely bad weather the Sunshine State's having, this year's Rolex 24 at Daytona is a sure fire way to kickstart IMSA's golden jubilee and the celebration continues at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, held at Sebring International Raceway, on the 13th to 16th of March.
