- The International Criminal Court will continue to assess the communications into Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's crimes against humanity despite the Philippine government's withdrawal of its ratification from the Rome Statute.
- Former Duterte special assistant Bong Go has vowed to push for localized peace talks as part of the government's effort to maintain peace and order if he gets elected at the 2019 senatorial elections. Under his proposal, Go said that local government officials would be the ones to visit the people in far-flung areas in order to provide basic services and the attention that they deserve.
- The Bayan Muna group yesterday bagged the top spot among all the party-list organizations participating the May 2019 midterm elections. The left-leaning group bested 180 other organizations in the automated raffle conducted by the COMELEC to determine their order on the ballots.
- Six US marines were missing after two American military aircraft crashed on Thursday during a refuelling operation off the coast of Japan.
- Three people were killed and 44 were hurt as a big explosion rocked a plastics company in the Dominican Republic's capital Wednesday.
- Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai is being honored by Harvard University for promoting girls' education. Yousafzai became the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 when she was recognized for her global work supporting schooling for all children.
