- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte joined the Filipino people in commemorating the 122nd death anniversary of national hero Jose P. Rizal. In his Rizal Day message, Duterte wished the Filipinos a meaningful commemoration and asked the public to “embody Rizal’s patriotism.”

- Three people died due to heavy flooding caused by Typhoon Usman.

- A strong earthquake of Magnitude 7.10 rattled Davao Oriental Saturday, triggering a tsunami alert that was recalled some two hours later. An Intensity 2 aftershock was reported later yesterday at 5:13 p.m. or almost six hours after the 11:39 a.m. earthquake.

- President Duterte continues attacking the Catholic Church until it "corrects itself."

- US President Donald Trump blamed Democrats for migrant child deaths at US border.

- Two people were killed during Election Day clashes in Bangladesh.

- An Oregon hotel said it fired two of its employees for mistreatment of a black guest who was talking on his phone in the lobby when he was asked to leave a week ago.

- Egypt said its security forces have killed 40 militants in raids on their hideouts in the Sinai Peninsula and the Greater Cairo area, just hours after a roadside bomb targeted a tourist bus in the capital, killing three Vietnamese tourists and their Egyptian guide.

- Jon Jones defeated Alexander Gustafsson in the UFC 232 match.
