- The Department of Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana is now considering reviewing the Mutual Defense Treaty between the Philippines and the United States, citing its relevance in the present setting. In a press briefing in Malacañang, Lorenzana said that maybe the time has come for the MDT to be revisited, given that its provisions were made in 1951. He said he wants to find out if the MDT is worth keeping given that the document was created 67 years ago.

- Senator Vicente Sotto III seeks to cancel licenses of internet service providers that allow websites that infringe copyright should the bill is passed into law. The Senate President filed Senate Bill 2109, or the proposed “Philippine Online Infringement Act,” which seeks to enable the Intellectual Property Office, through the National Telecommunications Commission, to cancel the licenses of internet service providers that allow websites to infringe or facilitate the infringement of copyright.

- Detained opposition Sen. Leila de Lima urged the Filipino people to reflect, pray and ponder on the fate of innocent children who died in the government’s all-out war on drugs as they commemorate the Niños Inocentes or Feast of the Holy Innocents.\

- The Trump administration will not authorize new flood insurance policies, citing partial shutdown of the federal government due to a budget impasse in Congres and potentially putting thousands of home sales in limbo.

- A Swiss federal court has overturned the racial discrimination conviction of a man who published an article denying the massacre of thousands of Bosnian Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica in 1995.

- A top Russian official says the nation’s new strategic weapon has made any missile defenses useless. Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov told Russian state television Thursday that the Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle flies 27 times faster than the speed of sound, making it impossible to intercept. He added that the new weapon “essentially makes missile defenses useless.”

- Investigators found Thailand's deputy prime minister innocent of failing to declare his assets a year after he was discovered to have a number of luxury watches that would have been out of reach of his government salary. Prawit Wongsuwan is the defense minister and a top member of the country’s ruling junta. A group photo last December showed Prawit wearing a Richard Mille timepiece that he had not declared on his list of assets.

- More than 20 vehicles were left stranded by the roadside on the Sungai Besi Highway earlier following an incident triggered by a suspected fuel contamination to the petrol. The mass breakdown occurred after the vehicles were refueled at the Petronas Solaris Besraya station situated along the highway.
