- Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said that Malacanang’s issuance of Memorandum Order No. 32 deploying military and police forces to suppress violence and acts of terror in the provinces of Samar, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental and Bicol region and prevent such violence spreading and escalating elsewhere in the country will only be good for six months.

- Indigenous People Alliance Terrorism trooped  Mendiola Bridge to denounce the nation’s Maoist movement, Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army as they celebrated their 50th anniversary on Wednesday.

- Three students were killed in a laboratory blast at a Beijing university, according to the city’s fire department, in an accident that blew out windows and left the building a blackened shell.

- Taiwan searches for 152 missing Vietnamese tourists as local media reported they may have come to the island to work illegally. The tourists were issued visas under an initiative launched three years ago to attract more visitors to Taiwan from south and southeast Asia.

Boko Haram jihadists ambushed a military convoy in northeastern Nigeria, killing 13 soldiers and a policeman. according to the army.

- German police say 20 people were injured, two of them seriously, when two horse-drawn carriages collided during a Christmas Day outing. Reports quoted police in southern Bavaria as saying the two carriages, each with 10 passengers, were approaching a rail crossing single file when the first carriage halted. The second did not and overturned during the collision.

- Bugatti tries out the world's first 3D-printed brake caliper, which is a technological breakthrough that weighs 2.9kg for dimensions of 41cm long, 21cm wide, and 13.6cm tall, representing a 40% weight reduction over the aluminum alloy equivalent.



- A new Orphen anime is coming next year and Showtaro Morikubo reprises his titular role.
