- Philippine National Police chief Director Genral Oscar Albayade led the gift-giving to about 200 children and their parents living in the slums of Manila. This year, Albayalde and National Capital Region Police Office Director Guillermo Eleazar graced the gift-giving activity at Paraiso ng Batang Maynila on Quirino corner Leveriza Street, Malate, Manila where about 200 children and their parents received food and grocery packs from the PNP.
- The House of Representatives approved the imposition of curfew hours for children following second reading early this month. This time, lawmakers avoided human rights implications on affected youths as authors of House Bill 7513 put blame for straying children to their parents or legal guardians.
- An opposition lawmaker wants to make the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office more accountable to the public and limit its discretion in distributing its funds. Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano sought to amend the 83-year old PCSO Charter and pushed for the creation of the Philippine Charity Office, with a primary mandate of raising revenues to fund for health programs, medical assistance and services, and related charities of the government.
