- The Malacanang clarified that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte wants to get rid of the Road Users’ Tax as it is being used as a milking cow by corrupt politicians. Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made the statement after House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr. claimed that Duterte agreed to keep the Road Board contrary to the claims of Presidential Spokesman Panelo and Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno.

Muntinlupa celebrated its 101st founding anniversary on Dec. 19 with the inauguration of a new health center, and recognition of individuals and organizations for their contribution to the city’s development.

- In recognition of the different burial rites of various religions in the Philippines, the House of Representatives passed on third and final reading a bill requiring medical facilities to release a cadaver in their possession within 24 hours from the time of death.

- The US Congress passes a stopgap funding bill with $5 billion for US President Donald Trump's border wall, which is expected to be failed by the US Senate on Friday, pushing the nation for another government shutdown. The vote comes after the president said Thursday he would not sign a spending measure that does not include money for a border wall.

- London's Gatwick Airport has resumed flights after drones sparked the shutdown of the airfield for more than 24 hours, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded during the busy holiday season.

- Authorities arrested three more suspects Thursday in the deaths of two Scandinavian university students who were killed in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. Moroccan authorities said the men detained in Marrakech and a fourth suspect pledged allegiance to the Islamic State in a video.

- Sydney, Australia, was pummeled by series of lightning and hailstorms with ice blocks the size of tennis balls. The authorities issued a severe storm warning, but that was not enough to prevent damage that is already running into the tens of millions of dollars.

New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended indefinitely for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the NFL's drug policy.

- The Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings will be the first NBA teams to play in India as the teams will play two preseason games in Mumbai in 2019, Oct. 4-5 at the NSCI Dome. The games will be the first staged in the country by a North American sports league.

- Carlos Ghosn has been re-arrested by Japanese authorities for recent allegations of aggravated breach of trust earlier today, diminishing chances of his impending release on bail.

- McLaren Special Operations made a specially-themed P1 GTR in honor of 30 years of Ayrton Senna's first F1 World Championship.
