- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte heads to Singapore for the 33rd ASEAN Summit and related summits next week as he will be discussing the economy, illegal drugs, and terrorism.
- Senator Gregorio Honasan II accepts the Department of Information and Communications Technology chief position. President Rodrigo Duterte, in a media interview in Boracay, Aklan on Thursday, confirmed he offered the post of DICT secretary to Honasan.
- A Filipino-American was among the 12 people killed in the horrific shooting inside a bar in Thousand Oaks, California on Wednesday night (Thursday morning in Manila).
- The Trump administration revoked the press credentials of reporter Jim Acosta in retaliation for his difficult questions about the refugee caravan. Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders released a doctored video of Acosta's confrontation with the President, in which he appears to push away an intern that is attempting to seize the mic from him. The video Sanders shared has been shown to have been deliberately and maliciously edited and sped up to make Acosta looked like he pushed the intern.
- Spoof billboards appeared in the British capital on Thursday purportedly organized by Russian military intelligence officers “to celebrate their role” in the 2016 Brexit referendum — to the bemusement of Londoners.
- A plan to start repatriating Rohingya Muslims back to Myanmar is premature and the refugees are “terrified” about leaving Bangladesh where they sought refuge, dozens of aid agencies working in the region said Friday.
- Greyhound racing is banned in Florida by the end of 2020.
- Seven tenants were killed and 11 others injured when a blaze ripped through a three-storey studio complex in Seoul.
