Beginning on the controversial Saturday race, Red Bull Holden driver Shane van Gisbergen, who was investigated over his controversial pitstop, was cleared from the investigation and his victory was safe, although the folks from Scott McLaughlin's side wasn't impressed as the post-race moment where van Gisbergen stopped his car near McLaughlin's to the point where he couldn't get out. However, on Sunday's race, McLaughlin finally claimed his revenge against van Gisbergen by winning the race and snag the Jason Richards trophy.
After the drama at Auckland, the gap between the two title rivals are now 14 points, 3656 vs. 3642. So, the main question is, when the 2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship finale took place at the Coates Hire Newcastle 500 on the 23rd to 25th of November, who will win the championship? Is it McLaughlin whose going to give the Falcon a proper sendoff? Or is it van Gisbergen who thinks the new ZB Commodore racing machines work? All will be revealed in the finale this month so watch for it!
