- The US Senate voted in favor of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to be the new Justice of SCOTUS, despite numerous opposition at the vote of 50-48 in favor of Kavanaugh. Republicans praised the move but Democrats strongly condemned the confirmation.
- The Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympics has begun and for the first time, the opening ceremony was held in the street with over 200,000 people attended the event.
- Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor, foiling the Irish MMA fighter's bid to regain the UFC lightweight title with a submission victory followed by a post-fight brawl. Nurmagomedov's October 6 victory in the fourth round in Las Vegas, Nevada, stretched the ethnic Avar Daghestani fighter's professional record to 27-0.
- With Majutsu no Index III now on air, the To Aru franchise gets even bigger as To Aru Kagaku no Railgun gets renewed for third season and a new series, To Aru Kagaku no Accelerator, gets green-lit for 2019 airing.
- The Yuru Camp anime series gets renewed for 2nd season.
