- Senate President Vicente Sotto III urges the Palace to certify as urgent the proposed Universal Healthcare Act so that the Upper Chamber can approve it on final reading before Congress goes on a break next week.
- The US Senate narrowly passes the first confirmation voting of SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh on camera despite controversies and condemnation from the Democrats. Lisa Murowski, a Republican from Alaska, says she will vote against Kavanaugh. The final vote will take place this coming Saturday, local time.
- The Legal counsel of Cheryl Favila and Maricar Asprec slammed the sexual harassment complaint filed by showbiz reporter Gretchen Fullido against ABS-CBN as "baseless."
- NBA commissioner Adam Silver said Friday that the league office is monitoring how the Dallas Mavericks are responding to allegations of improper workplace conduct that were not included in the investigative report released two weeks ago.
- After finishing his stint for the next Avengers film, Chris Evans will star in a film alongside Daniel Craig.
