- Typhoon Yutu (international name) may likely follow the same track as Ompong (Mangkhut), which made landfall over Cagayan province last month, according to PAGASA. Yutu was unlikely to make landfall over any part of the country but in its Thursday forecast, the typhoon is now more likely to directly hit Cagayan province on Tuesday or Wednesday. Should Yutu lands at the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday, it will be named Rosita.
- Top officials of the Philippine Department of National Defense and the Directorate General of Armaments and Materiel of the Ministry of Defense of Spain met in Manila during the latter’s visit to the country from October 20 to 23, 2018.
- Election lawyer Romulo Macalintal said Senator Koko Pimentel is still qualified to run for reelection in the May 2019 midterm polls as he did not serve his full term as senator from 2007 to 2013, which cannot be considered as “one term.”
- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte turned down the invitation from the United States but still considers it its ally. The President issued the statement after turning down an official invitation to visit the United States for a meeting with its government leaders.
- Pipe bombs were sent Wednesday to Barack Obama, top Democrats and CNN, hate figures for Donald Trump supporters, while the US president tempered calls for unity by attacking the media for its “endless hostility.” Democrat and Trump foe Hillary Clinton was one of those targeted, as political opponents accused the Republican president of sowing violence just days before a bitterly divided America votes November 6 in elections.
- The European Parliament approves an EU-wide ban on single-use plastics such as straws, cutlery, cotton buds, and balloon sticks. The European Commission, the 28-nation EU’s executive arm, proposed banning such items that it said account for 70 percent of the waste in the oceans and beaches.
- Afghan officials launched an investigation Wednesday into claims at least 14 civilians were killed in a military ground operation targeting the Islamic State group in their stronghold in eastern Afghanistan.
- The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, the world's longest sea-crossing bridge at 55km, is now open to traffic. Built at a reported cost of USD20 billion, the bridge is meant to make it easier for tourists and commuters to travel within the region.
- Legendary Pictures will produce a live-action My Hero Academia film.
- New Pokemon Let's Go update on the radar: the mysterious mythical Pokemon Meltan appears to have an evolved form called Melmetal, making it the first mythical Pokemon to have an evolved form. How will they evolve Meltan is up to the trainers to do such herculean task.

- The Nevada State Athletic Commission voted unanimously on Wednesday to extend its temporary suspensions of UFC stars Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor for their postfight actions at UFC 229 on Oct. 6 at T-Mobile Arena.
