- Typhoon Queenie is seen to further intensify and while t is not expected to make landfall, its trough or extension will bring light to moderate rains over the eastern section of the Philippines. PAGASA estimated the location of the eye of Queenie at 1,130km east of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan province.

- The Senate public order and dangerous drugs committee has called for the adoption of a more common rank nomenclature for the Philippine National Police to make a clear distinction from members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

- The Philippine National Police created a special investigation task group to conduct a thorough investigation on the ambush-slay of the town mayor of Sudipen, La Union last night. Sudipen town Mayor Alexander Boquing, 50, was declared dead on arrival (DOA) at Ilocos Sur District Hospital in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in the head and body.

- British Prime Minister Theresa May announced that Britain will stop favoring workers from the European Union after Brexit, saying she wanted to attract high-skilled immigrants wherever they were from. In an announcement at her Conservative party conference, May said she would publish plans for a single system for EU and non-EU countries later this year, ahead of a bill to be published in 2019.

- A one-time classmate of SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh said he was a habitual heavy drinker, challenging the judge's Senate testimony to the contrary.

- Two quakes struck in quick succession off the southern coast of Indonesia’s Sumba island on Tuesday morning, sending startled people into the streets for safety. A shallow and moderately strong 5.9 quake struck at 2359 GMT, around 40 kilometers (25 miles) off Sumba, an island of some 750,000 people, the United States Geological Survey said.

- Toyota will launch a new 1.5L-class compact SUV by 2020, according to reports.

- Skoda unveiled the new Kodiaq vRS ahead of this month's Paris Motor Show. Armed with the 2.0L twin turbo diesel engine producing 237hp of power and 369lb-ft of torque, it pushes to a top speed of 137mph and it's capable of lapping the Nurburgring in 9:29.84.
