- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrives in Turkey as the investigation of the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi intensifies. Meanwhile, reports told that a suspect identified by Turkey in the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was a frequent companion of the kingdom’s powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Few moments earlier, G7 ministers called for a “transparent” probe into the disappearance of a Saudi journalist and regime critic, saying they were “very troubled” by the case.

- Canada legalizes marijuana for recreational use.

- Almost 400 Yemenis were denied refugee status by South Korea, months after their arrival on Jeju island triggered a populist outcry. Ethnically-homogenous South Korea grants refugee status to only a tiny fraction of those who apply, despite having been ravaged by war itself within living memory.
