- Malacanang has revoked the amnesty granted to Senator Antonio Trillanes and orders his arrest. “The grant of amnesty of former LTSG Antonio Trillanes IV under Proclamation No. 75 is declared void ab initio because he did not comply with the minimum requirements to qualify under the Amnesty Proclamation,” read Proclamation No. 572 signed by President Duterte.
- With a vote of 21-0, the House Justice Committee consolidated impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo de Castro and six other Supreme Court justices were found to be sufficient in form on Tuesday, September 4.
- The Armed Forces of the Philippines said the operations to pull out the Philippine Navy Ship that ran aground in Hasa-Hasa Shoal that started at around 1400 hours, Manila time, Monday was a success.
- The United States condemned the jailing in Myanmar of two Reuters journalists who had reported on a massacre of Rohingya Muslims in that country, calling it “deeply troubling” and urging the men’s immediate release. Wa Lone, 32, and Kyaw Soe Oo, 28, were sentenced Monday to seven years in jail on charges of violating the Official Secrets Act, a draconian British colonial-era law which carries a maximum sentence of 14 years.
- Tens of thousands of people thronged an anti-racism concert Monday to protest against xenophobic mobs that ran rampage in the city of Chemnitz, as Chancellor Angela Merkel urged Germans to stand up against the far right’s message of hate and division.
- The burnt National Museum in Rio De Janeiro boasted the largest archive of historical artifacts and documents in Latin America, some 20 million pieces from around the globe. Museum officials say it’s too soon to say what had been lost or spared, as firefighters were still putting out ambers and assessing whether it was safe to enter.
- US President Donald Trump warned Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his allies Iran and Russia not to “recklessly attack” Syria’s rebel-held Idlib province, warning that hundreds of thousands of people could be killed.

- The people behind the FIA Formula E will spawn a new electric SUV race series called Extreme E, according to reports.
- Stoffel Vandoorne will leave the McLaren F1 team after the 2018 season as Lando Norris is replacing Vandoorne on the 2019 season.
- Kenyuu Horiuchi is named as the new voice for Professor Oak from the Pokemon anime series, replacing the late Unsho Ishizuka who died last August 13.
- Yasushi Akimoto of AKS and Warner Japan joined forces to produce an "idol girls band" set for next spring's debut.
