THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: Typhoon Soulik heads towards the Peninsula

On Wednesday, the Presidential Office said, it's put its crisis management center in full operation as typhoon Soulik heads towards the Peninsula.

The center, led by the presidential security adviser Chung Eui-yong will work to minimize damage and casualties, as well as update the president on the typhoon.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy also held an emergency meeting with the chiefs of related ministries to discuss further preventative measures especially on potential damage to major industrial complexes and energy-related facilities.

Meanwhile, today is the preparation day before the second round of reunion event for separated families that begins on Friday.

Unlike the first round, which ended on Wednesday, this time, the participants chosen by North Korea will meet their relatives from the South.

The South Korean families of the 83 North Korean participants will gather today in Sokcho, South Korea and they will be instructed on the do's and don'ts while they are in the North.

After spending the night in Sokcho, they will cross the border tomorrow morning, and for three days, the families have 12 hours, divided into six different sessions, to be with their relatives.
