Citing an unnamed government official, Reuters reported on Thursday, in the secret letter Kim Yong-chol, vice chairman of North Korea's Workers' Party's central committee, sent to the U.S… Pyongyang said "Mike Pompeo should not come to Pyongyang, if the U.S. has nothing to offer."
While a report by U.S.-based media outlet Vox, said President Trump promised North Korean leader Kim Jong-un a peace treaty sometime soon after their summit in June, the Trump administration continues to insist denuclearization has to take place before anything else, and the U.S. State Department has extended its ban on Americans' travel to North Korea for another year until August 31st 2019.
Meanwhile, the UN Security Council's sanctions committee says, the sanctions on North Korea serve a very clear political purpose-- to achieve full and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
Dutch Ambassador Karel van Oosterom told reporters Thursday "that the committee has worked with many countries on North Korea over recent sessions" which led to several accomplishments on humanitarian issues.
Earlier in August, the Security Council made the unprecedented move of approving measures that allow the delivery of humanitarian aid to the country.
