- Cagayan De Oro Mayor Oscar Moreno has been slapped anew with graft and falsification charges before the Sandiganbayan First and Fifth Divisions due to the reportedly anomalous purchase of equipments during his stint as the provincial governor of Misamis Oriental.
- Congress members aren't happy by Mocha Uson's controversial video on federalism. AKO-Bicol Party-List Rep. Rodel Batocabe and Surigao del Sur 2nd district Rep. Johnny Pimentel both reckoned that the dance did nothing to achieve the supposed purpose of raising awareness on federalism. Drew Olivar, co-host of Uson, was the one who performed the now-viral dance complete with chants of “pepe” and “dede.” The words refer to private parts of a woman in colloquial Filipino.
- The Department of Education has issued the policy on the implementation of multi-factored assessment tool identify Learners with Special Education Needs who may need education services and other services.
- Six people have been arrested in Venezuela for the involvement of the failed assassination attempt on President Nicolas Maduro, according to the interior minister. NĂ©stor Reverol said they were part of a group that loaded two drones with explosives and set them off during a military parade in the capital Caracas. Maduro warned the perpetrators face "maximum punishment" and blamed Colombia for the incident but provided no evidence.
- Cambodian PM Hun Sen said he will give a speech to the United Nations after claiming victory in a controversial election last month. Although official results won't be announced until mid-August, Hun Sen's ruling Cambodian People's Party said it had won all 125 parliamentary seats following the July 29 vote.
