- Typhoon Soulik is less likely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility but is expected to induce some heavy monsoon rains over Northern Luzon this Tuesday. PAGASA estimated the location of Soulik at 1,580 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon or outside the PAR before Monday noon. It has maintained its strength and will likely slightly enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat affecting the tip of northern Luzon this Tuesday.
- Several groups condemn Ramon Tulfo's actions and behavior at the Philippine General Hospital's emergency room last Thursday where he brought a child who was bumped by his driver. “His team videotaped the events at the ER triage while he was verbally abusing the staff members on duty as a minor he brought to the ER was being assessed,” PGHPA stated.
- Following last weekend's mishaps at a NAIA runway, Muntinlupa Representative Ruffy Biazon has sought the creation of the Office of Commuter Affairs in the Department of Transportation, citing that the rights of commuters and of the riding public should be promoted and protected. He said it is the government’s responsibility to provide “quality services” to traveling public and ensure their safety and offer them valuable assistance, especially during emergency situations.
- A wildfire in Montana's Glacier National Park is forcing more evacuations and has burned within a half-mile of the scenic Going-to-the-Sun Road. Protecting the highway through the park is officials’ priority, with firefighters installing hoses and sprinklers to prevent it from spreading there, The Missoulian newspaper reported Sunday.
- The Italian engineer who designed the Genoa bridge that collapsed and killed dozens warned almost four decades ago of risk of corrosion. RAI state television broadcast excerpts Sunday of the report that the late engineer Riccardo Morandi penned in 1979, 12 years after the bridge bearing his name was inaugurated in Genoa.
- US President Donald Trump's national security adviser arrived in Israel for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a time of shared concerns over Syria, Iran, and the Gaza Strip. Ahead of a joint dinner at Netanyahu’s Jerusalem residence, John Bolton said that “the Iran nuclear weapons programme, the ballistic missile programmes are right at the top of the list” of global challenges.
- Imran Khan made his first speech as Pakistan's prime minister late Sunday, giving a wide-ranging, televised address in which he announced reforms targeting corruption and focusing on human development in the rapidly growing country.
