- The Department of Transportation rejected the P552.018-billion proposal of the Cavite provincial government to develop the Sangley Point airport into an international airport, replacing the Ninoy Aquino International Airport as the country’s main gateway. The DOTR’s Office of the Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Procurement, the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs, and the Legal Service had recommended that the DOTr refrain from signing a memorandum of agreement with the Cavite provincial government, allowing it to embark on the proposed international airport development project.

- The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said a total of 88,131 families were displaced due to Habagat or southwest monsoon enhanced by tropical storm Karding. In a statement, the Office of Civil Defense-Public Affairs, said relief operations continue in affected areas through the Department of Social Welfare and Development as the cluster leads the food and nonfood items and camp coordination and camp management.

- Several officers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines were fired due to their alleged involvement in ghost deliveries amounting to 1.4 million pesos to the V. Luna Hospital.

- Nine people were killed and 15 injured in a blaze that broke out early Monday at a hospice for the terminally ill near Taiwan's capital Taipei, fire officials said.
