- The National Police Commission has recommended to President Duterte the promotion to Police Director of Police Chief Superintendent Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, the acting regional director of NCRPO. Napolcom Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer Atty. Rogelio Casurao said that the Commission approved and recommended to Duterte the promotion to two-star rank of Eleazar after the chief of the Philippine National Police, Police Director General Oscar Albayalde also backed up recommend his promotion saying that he met all the requirements for promotion to two-star rank.
- Detained Senator Leila de Lima sought the passage of a measure that would prohibit politicians from engaging in premature campaigning. In filing Senate Bill No. 1893, de Lima sought to plug loopholes in the country’s election law by prohibiting any forms of premature campaigning for any prospective candidate a year before the national and local elections.
- Immigration agents foiled the attempt of drug smuggling to the Bureau of Immigration Detention Center in Bicutan, Taguig. BI Warden Facility Chief Edward Mabborang, along with the members of Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency, caught Melody Brosas Almoete, 27, who tried to smuggle 10 grams of shabu.
- US President Donald Trump wrongly claimed that shoppers need to show photo identification to buy groceries and accused Democrats of obstructing his agenda and his Supreme Court nominee during a raucous rally aimed at bolstering two Florida Republicans ahead of the state’s primary.
- Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort began his trial.
- Heavy clashes erupted Tuesday between Syrian regime forces and Islamic State group jihadists cornered in a pocket of southern Daraa province, state media and a monitor said.
- The FCC derailed the merger between Sinclair Broadcasting and Tribune Media Company, kicking it to an administrative hearing process that puts the end of this controversial merger and most companies decide to pull out of entirely.
- BMW will build a new factory in Hungary, close to the town of Debrecen, as part of their European expansion. The new car plant will offer capacity of up to 150,000 units yearly, generate over 1,000 new jobs and comes at an investment of about one billion euros.
- Uber shuts down their self-driving trucks division, nearly two years after the program was spun following its multi-million acquisition of Otto. Reports told that Uber ATG will stop development of self-driving trucks and instead focus on self-driving cars.
- Thailand was named to be the hosting nation for December's Miss Universe 2018 pageant.
