Amazingly, before the race began, the DTM drivers did pay tribute to Robert Wickens, who used to race at the DTM and currently racing at IndyCar, as he's still in the hospital, recovering, following the Pocono incident. Anyway, the race...
On Saturday's late-night battle, Paul Di Resta emerged as the winner of the first ever DTM night race in Misano while Audi driver Robert Frijns scored his maiden podium finish with a 2nd place while Edoardo Mortara completes the podium with a third place finish. In the Sunday battle, meanwhile, dreams do come true as newcomer Joel Eriksson won his first DTM race in his career, beating the likes of Mortara and Rene Rast, respectively.
Onto the standings, Di Resta's lead from Gary Paffett is now nine points, 186 vs. 177.
With only three venues left in the season, the next race will be at the Nurburgring on the 7th to the 9th of September.
