THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: US never gave money to North Korea in exchange
The US says it did not give any money to North Korea in exchange for the recovery and return of the remains of 55 American soldiers killed during the Korean War.
State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert noted that while US code grants the authority to reimburse the North or any other country for expense related to the recovery and storage of remains, North Korea DID NOT ask for money, and that no funds were exchanged.
Last Friday, a US airplane carrying the remains of the American soldiers flew to Osan Air Base in South Korea. A formal repatriation ceremony will be held there on August 1st.
It was part of an agreement made between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump.
In the meantime, there has been an order within the Trump administration not to use the expression "complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearizaton" at negotiations with North Korea.
That's what the Asaho Shinbum reported on Sunday quoting US government officials.
The order came this month and the newspaper saw it as not to pressure North Korea.
Before the June 12th summit in Singapore, Washington had a lot of times used the term CVID but put it as "complete denuclearization" only on the joint statement.
Since then, key officials from Washington have used the term FFVD instead which means final, fully verified, denuclearization.
