- Malacañang said that President Duterte’s desire to talk peace with the Abu Sayyaf Group is more of an enticement for the members of the terrorist group to surrender to the government. Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made the statement after Duterte said last week that he is willing to go inside the ASG’s camps in Sulu to talk to them.

- The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council through the Office of Civil Defense wrapped up their National Disaster Resilience Month at the NDRRMC Operations Center, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. The OCD led the awarding of winners for the nationwide contests held in observance of this year’s NDRM with the theme, “Katatagan sa Kalamidad ay Makakamtan Kapag Sapat ang Kaalaman sa Kahandaan”.

- The Philippine National Police will be recalibrating its campaign against illegal drugs following President Duterte's declaration that he wants the war on drugs to be relentless and chilling amid allegations of human rights abuses and extra-judicial killings. But PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde was quick to clarify that their drug war will only be chilling for those engaged in illegal drugs activities as he emphasized that their intention in conducting a recalibration is to safeguard the safety of majority of the Filipino people.

- Relatives of people aboard Flight MH370 said they hoped a long-awaited report into the plane's disappearance might give them answers about one of the world's most enduring aviation mysteries. The family members were being given the official investigation team’s report in the morning at the Malaysian transport ministry and were set to be briefed by officials, and it was due to be released publicly in the afternoon.

- US President Donald Trump receives Italian Prime Minster Giuseppe Conte on Monday, welcoming to the White House a European populist with like-minded views on immigration and trade. The visit will begin with a one-on-one meeting followed by more extensive bilateral discussions, the White House said.

- Zimbabweans voted in their first election without Robert Mugabe on the ballot, a contest that could bring international legitimacy and investment or signal more stagnation if the vote is seriously flawed. About 5.5 million people were registered to vote in this southern African nation anxious for change after economic and political paralysis during the nearly four-decade rule of 94-year-old Mugabe.

- In Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals, the SMB Beermen won against Brgy. Ginebra at the score of 134-109, leveling the score with one win each.

- Team Sky's Geraint Thomas is named the winner of the 2018 Tour de France, making him the third Briitsh and Team Sky rider to win after Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome. Dutchman Tom Dumoulin finished second for Team Sunweb after also taking the runner-up spot in the Giro d'Italia won by Froome, who ended up third overall.
