- The Malacanang condemned the killing of Tanauan City Mayor Antonio Halili as he presided over the city's flag ceremony Monday morning. Halili was pronounced dead upon arrival at the CP Reyes Hospital after being shot in the chest as the singing of the national anthem commenced.
- Meanwhile, the Malacanang called the Human Rights Watch's description of the Duterte administration's drug war as a human rights calamity as simply ridiculous. Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque asserted that the government actually continues to uphold and protect civil liberties, from keeping the people safe from crimes and drugs to providing better social services.
- Florita has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility but some parts of the country will continue to experience scattered rain showers on Monday as the southwest monsoon affects western Visayas and the western section of Luzon, according to PAGASA.
- Anti-establishment leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador looked poised to win Mexico’s elections Sunday amid anger over corruption and brutal violence that flared again even as voters cast their ballots, claiming two party members’ lives.
- German interior minister Horst Seehofer said yesterday he wants to resign both his office and his position as head of the hardline conservative Bavarian CSU party, throwing into question the future of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s coalition government.
- A Turkish ancient temple in southeastern Anatolia was granted a UNESCO World Heritage status. Named Gobekli Tepe (Potbelly Hill), the site is the world’s oldest known megalithic structure located in Upper Mesopotamia and is some 11,000 years old.
- FuRyu announced to temporarily stop making games to focus on existing titles.
- Composer Taku Inoue announced that he will be leaving Bandai Namco.
- Satomi Akesaka, Roselia's Rinko Shirokane from Bang Dream!, will leave the franchise due to sudden hearing loss. Akesaka continues to do voice acting but the Rinko Shirokane role will be re-casted after her departure from this fall's Roselia Fan Meeting.
- LeBron James is now joining the Los Angeles Lakers with a four-year, $153.3 million contract.

- The brother of TV personality Sharon Cuneta is running for Pasay City mayor.
