As the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series draws closer to its climax, the Honda Indy 200 race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course shows that the battle keeps on burning hot and in the end, there is one winner that made the impossible possible.
Alexander Rossi, having claimed his third Verizon P1 award for 2018, led the 24-car field on the green flag and despite no signs of caution, the real action kicks as Max Chilton dumped Takuma Sato off to turn four, leaving the Brit a drive-through penalty. While some drivers go for the two-pit strategy during the course of this race, there are some think that's not going well as demonstrated by Josef Newgarden snatching the lead from Rossi before going to the pits. Robert Wickens, opted early for the three-stop strategy, has the opportunity arises. Midway, Sebastian Bourdais, in a most impressive feat, charged his way from 24th to the top ten having overtaken Zach Veach. With 40 laps left, Will Power and Josef Newgarden gunning themselves for the top five after a pit lane.
While some drivers abandoned their two-stop strategy, Rossi kept his strategy and that kept him on the lead and thanks to this impossible feat, he won the Honda Indy 200 race with Robert Wickens placed 2nd and Will Power placed 3rd. After Mid-Ohio, Rossi's now 49 points behind frontrunner Scott Dixon.
The next race is at Pocono Raceway at Pennsylvania for the ABC Supply 500 on the 19th of August.
