- A low pressure area and the habagat will bring rain showers in most parts of the country today, according to PAGASA. In its 24-hour forecast released at 4 a.m., the state weather bureau said the LPA was last observed at 655 kilometers east-northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar province while the southwest monsoon continues to affect the western section of Luzon.

- The Supreme Court declared final its May 11 decision that ousted Maria Lourdes Sereno as Chief Justice and head of the judiciary. In its full court session, the SC denied Sereno’s motion for reconsideration in a 8-6 vote of the 14 justices. Under the rules, a second motion for reconsideration is a prohibited pleading.

- President Duterte's anti-loitering order has gained the full support of barangays and local government units executives, according to the DILG.

- The death toll from the Osaka quake yesterday has gone up to four.

- Beijing accused Donald Trump of “blackmail” and warned it would retaliate in kind after the US president threatened to impose fresh tariffs on Chinese goods, pushing the world’s two biggest economies closer to a trade war. Trump said on Monday he had asked the US Trade Representative to target $200 billion worth of imports for a 10 percent levy, citing China’s “unacceptable” move to raise its own tariffs.

- Australia pledged to provide Pacific nations with better funding to counter Chinese development money which it fears will leave some countries with massive debt burdens and undermine their sovereignty.

- Thailand carried out their first execution since 2009, according to the Department of Corrections, killing a 26-year-old convicted murderer in a move condemned by Amnesty International as “deplorable”. Theerasak Longji, 26, was killed by lethal injection, six years after he was convicted of murder in Trang province. The execution comes with Thai coup leader Prayut Chan-O-Cha set to travel abroad to the United Kingdom and France.

- Apple fined AU$9 million by an Australian court for making false claims about consumer rights when refusing to fix faulty iPhones and iPads previously repaired by a third party. Customers of the US tech giant had complained to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission after an operating system update disabled their devices in a global issue known as “error 53”.

- Rupert Stadler, the current CEO of Audi, was arrested over fears of the Dieselgate coverup, based on reports. Stadler’s arrest was confirmed by a spokesperson of the greater Volkswagen Group, adding that the presumption of innocence applied to his case. Audi had no immediate comment regarding the arrest, and Stadler himself as well as Munich prosecutors were not immediately available for comment.

- Honda's Civic Type R has destroyed the Spa-Francorchamps FWD lap record in 2:53.72, with former FIA WEC LMP2 champion Bertrand Baguette behind the wheel.



- The Pokemon GO app game will feature a new "friends" update soon, where players can add friends, gifting them, or trading Pokemon.

- The Precure 15th anniversary celebration continues with the announcement of their crossover film titled Hugtto! Precure Futari wa Precure All Stars Memories, showing in theaters this October 27th. This marks the return of the All Stars subtitle and will feature 55 Precures from the first to the latest.
