- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte arrived at Singapore for his attendance at the two-day 32nd ASEAN Summit and his meeting with the members of the Filipino community here today. According to Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Duterte is set to hold bilateral meetings with Singapore Prime Minister and ASEAN chair Lee Hsien Loong, Indonesia President Joko Widodo, and Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc during the sidelines of the summit On that venue, ASEAN leaders vowed to fight against protectionism, the one US President Donald Trump championed during his campaign.
- Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said the Philippines is surprised and displeased with Kuwait's action to declare persona non grata on Ambassador Renato Villa, saying it is consistent with what their envoy committed to the Philippine government. Cayetano issued the statement after the Kuwaiti government declared Villa as persona non grata and ordered him to leave the gulf state within the week. This came after a video of a rescue operation in Kuwait initiated by the Philippine embassy there went viral. Earlier, Kuwait had summoned Villa over his supposed inflammatory remarks against the government.
