THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: New Year diplomacy and security policy agenda
South Korea has revealed its plans to use next month's PyeongChang Winter Games as a springboard towards peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Government agencies handled in they New Year Diplomacy and security policy briefings to Prime Minister Lee Nak-yun this morning, beginning with plans to carry out a successful and safe Winter Olympics.
The Unification Ministry pledged to use the Games to hold more high-level talks with North Korea, while the foreign ministry said it will try to encourage dialogue on an international scale, between Washington and Pyongyang.
After the two Koreas agreed to make a joint entrance at next month's Games, the culture and sports ministry also said it will push for similar matches at other international sporting events.
