- A protest for press freedom set to be staged in Quezon City on Friday night is a testament that freedom and democracy are alive in the country, according to the Malacanang Palace. The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines will spearhead "Black Friday" protests at the Boy Scout Circle in Quezon City at 1800 hours local time.
- President Rodrigo Duterte will join alongside ASEAN leaders for India's Republic Day on the 26th. This will be the Philippine President's first Indian visit and a first for this year. Duterte will attend the ASEAN-India Special Commemorative Summit on the 25th and participate in the country's Republic Day the day after.
- Politicians in California are facing an inconvenient truth that they cannot stop federal authorities like ICE from doing crackdowns on undocumented immigrants following rumors of massive immigration raids in the Bay Area. State Attorney General Xavier Becerra on Thursday acknowledged that the federal government has jurisdiction over immigration, even as he told reporters he was prepared to challenge any enforcement actions that violate California law.
- A few days ago, a city in central Japan used its emergency loudspeaker to trigger a recall over four packages of blowfish meat after discovering a fifth one contained the potentially deadly liver. Regional health officials said Tuesday a supermarket in Gamagori sold five packages of assorted blowfish meat on Monday. The inclusion of the liver in the package could have contaminated the other meat with the fugu poison.
- Following reports that American football superstar Tom Brady hurt his right hand and suffered a cut during a handoff Wednesday, his injured hand will appear before media on Friday.
- A certain supermarket in Great Britain will go plastic-free by 2023.
- A few days ago, Nestle sold its US candy division to Ferrero for about $2.8 billion. Nestle's American confectioneries include Nestle Crunch, Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, Raisinets, Nips, Skinny Cow, and Laffy Taffy.
- Mazda launched a new engine manufacturing factory in Thailand, where they will produce SKYACTIV-G engines there.
- Meanwhile, reports circulate that Mazda's signature rotary engine will be put to self-driving Toyotas.
- Bungie, developers of the popular shooter game Destiny 2, admits to throttling tokens for a certain in-game event. In a forum post, Bungie explains that the throttle on Rally tokens as part of last month's update. As it stands now, any player who opens more than two chests in a ten-minute period will not receive any additional rewards for the next ten minutes.
- ICYMI: Nintendo forays to the DIY toy business with the unveiling of the Nintendo Labo, which involves assembling toys and play them with the Nintendo Switch game offered.
