THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: Xi Jinping replies to Kim Jong Un's congratulatory message
North Korean state media says Chinese leader Xi Jinping has replied to Kim Jong-un's message congratulating him on securing a second five-year term as Chinese President.
The KCNA reported that President Xi expressed his hope that relations between the two countries can ultimately make a positive contribution to regional stability. Following the end of China's Communist Party Congress last week, Kim sent a message to the Chinese president, wishing him success.
It marks the first time in over a year that President Xi has sent a personal message to the North Korean leader. Watchdogs say it could imply to softening of the relations which has worsened following the North's nuclear and missile tests.
